Claire W

Group Head of Nursing & Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined Watkins and Tasker Vets in 2005 after completing my Veterinary Nursing Degree. I have managed the Portishead branch as Head Nurse for 10 years and am now our Group Head of Nursing.

My role alongside nursing duties is to support the nursing teams and ensure we always provide the highest level of care to your pets. I am responsible for continuing the development of the nurse team professional skills and knowledge plus also looking after the team’s wellbeing. I am a Mental Health First Aider. The practice has grown a lot since I first started but I love that we have kept the friendly, family atmosphere that makes our staff, clients and pets feel at home.

At home I have two young football obsessed boys, three cats; Kevin, Pig and Doris, ‘Mr Sausage’ the Syrian hamster and a husband who is very understanding that my role has never quite been 9-5.”

Sarah B

Registered Veterinary Nurse & Head Nurse at Portishead

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse and have worked here since 2013. I became Head Nurse at Yatton in 2016 before moving to do the same role at the Potishead Practice. I am the Practice cat behaviourist and have also completed my Certificate in Nursing of Exotic Species. I have owned a tortoise, Jigsaw who helped me develop my knowledge and understanding of the more exotic patients we love to see. I was really proud to win Petplan UK Vet Nurse of 2019 Award. I love spending time with my family and our dogs Max, Millie and Wookie plus a small flock of hens.

Jody H

Registered Veterinary Nurse & Head Nurse at Nailsea

I have been working within practice for over 12 years but joined Watkins and Tasker Vets at the Nailsea site in 2014. After qualifying in 2016, and returning after having my third child, I worked at the Portishead Practice. This allowed me to further my clinical skills and become a clinical coach. I really enjoy helping the next generation of vet nurses and love passing on helpful tips that I have learnt along the way. In October 2020, I became the Head Vet Nurse at the Nailsea Practice. It is great to be back where my WTV journey started.

Outside of work I am kept busy with my three young children, husband, chickens, two cats and our two rescue tortoises. If I do get any spare time, I enjoy running and horse riding.

Michelle (Shell) M

I joined Watkins & Tasker Vets in November 2018 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I achieved my degree in nursing in September 2011 and have worked in practice since 2009. I have experience of working with  farm animals, pets and even elephants at a sanctuary in Sri Lanka so all creatures great and small. I enjoy surgical nursing and dental work. I have a Hungarian Wire-Haired Vizsla called Lincoln, who I am looking to compete in the future at Canicross events which is like cross country running.

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse who joined the team in 2006.  I have worked in a variety of roles within the Practice and I enjoy all aspects of veterinary nursing but have a special interest in helping our more nervous patients overcome their fears with socialisation clinics and our Puppy Academy .  When I am not working as a nurse helping to care for your pets, I spend most of my free time walking, training and competing at agility with my Border Collies, Luna and Mayhem, or snuggling on the sofa with my Birman cat, Mr Paddy Paws.

I joined Watkins and Tasker in March 2017 as an Animal Care Assistant and Trainee Nurse. I graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Veterinary Nursing and Bio-Veterinary Science in the summer of 2017, and was very excited to start my first job as Veterinary Nurse with Watkins and Tasker! I love all animals but have a soft spot for cats and have two, Lily and Molly, back at my family home. In my spare time I enjoy (attempting!) to bake and going to gigs.

I started at Watkins and Tasker Vets in 2016 after a work experience placement. From there, I progressed into a Receptionist role, followed by becoming an Animal Care Assistant, then a Student Nurse and worked hard to become qualified.

I enjoy all aspects of the job, especially looking after our exotic patients and small furries. At home, I am kept busy with my own collection of small animals and a very mischievous tortoise, Don Juan.

I moved to Somerset in 2016 and joined Watkins and Tasker Vet Team in July 2019 to take my last exam as a trainee and start my qualified veterinary nursing career. I work across all three branches and enjoy all aspects of nursing, particularly in inpatient care and feline behaviour.

Viv R

I grew up in West Sussex where a love of horse riding pointed me towards the career of a Vet Physio. I graduated as a Veterinary Physiotherapist from Harper Adams University in 2019 before I started work at Watkins and Tasker Vets. I am mainly based at the Portishead branch working in our rehabilitation centre, hydro.vet. My main passion is helping elderly dogs with mobility issues so that they can maintain their quality of life and make the most of their later years.

I spend most of my free time caring for my animals. I have two dogs; Buddy and Odie, two cats; Bella and Maisey, two horses; Wilma and Gareth and last but not least my Bearded Dragon, Drago.
